DATES

This year Humanities Spring in Assisi runs from June 27th to July 25th, 2010. Students may also choose to come to Humanities Spring one week earlier (June 19th) to attend our new HSIA Archaeology Boot-Camp, an intensive, hands-on study of Pompeii and Paestum, the two classical cities per eccellenza. Please see below under "Snazzy extras" for more details.

PROGRAM COSTS

This year's HSIA program costs 3,600 USD. If you mail us your application by January 15th you qualify for our 250 USD early enrollment reduction (EER).

This includes:

• Airport pickup and return
• All transportation within Italy
• Tuition
• Walking tours and guided visits
• All admission fees to castles, museums, archaeological sites, gardens, etc. (i.e. anything we visit as a group)
• All tickets to opera, puppet show, concerts (i.e. to all group-attended events)
• Room and board at HSIA, and at the Sette Bello Hotel in Minori our last three nights. i.e. All meals (except for the occasional lunch or dinner out).

Application fee:
There is a HSIA application fee of 50 USD. Please send this to us along with your application.

HSIA insurance:
All students must come to HSIA with full insurance coverage or buy our HSIA policy (additional 145 USD). HSIA uses the medical services of the Assisi Hospital, a small, excellent hospital twenty minutes away.

SCHOLARSHIPS AT HSIA

HSIA offers two kinds of scholarships to interested applicants. Students are welcome to apply for either or both.

All scholarship decisions are usually made by March 15th If you are applying after that date, and we still have scholarships available, we will let you know.

HSIA is committed to helping interested and enthusiastic applicants to attend. If you are really interested in coming, please go ahead and apply, and we will do our best to make it happen!!

WORK-STUDY SCHOLARSHIPS

Students work at Humanities Spring to offset the costs of the program. Students might do anything from washing windows to organizing our library loft or from student-teaching to helping our Italian cook make Italian cakes for evening serate. We try to create work-study schedules which are fruitful for the work-study student, as well as the HSIA community at large. We think work is an important learning experience, and every HSIA student has a half-hour daily chore.

High School students may apply for up to 500 dollars in work-study. College students may apply for partial or full scholarships.

SNAZZY EXTRA

Archaeology Boot-Camp: Where students read, write, think and dream Classical Archaeology

A week-long session based in the charming Maretta Hotel in Paestum (with beautiful private beach!). Intensive, hands-on study of Paestum and Pompeii, the two classical cities per eccellenza.

APPLYING TO HSIA

Dear Student,

To apply to this year's summer program,

1. Download the HSIA application form and complete it.
2. Fill out the contact information sheet which you will find at the end of the application form.
3. Send both to us with an application fee of 50 USD (checks or money-orders should be made out to "Humanities Spring in Assisi") and send by regular snail mail to:

PAYMENT METHOD

All payments should be made by check or bank transfer. Checks should be made out to "Humanities Spring in Assisi". Please send all payments by regular US snail mail, much faster (and more reliable!!!) than any of the courier services. For bank transfers, send us an e-mail at payments@humanitiesspring.com and we will send you all the information you need.

PAYMENT TIMETABLE

HSIA application fee (50 USD): Please include your application fee with your HSIA application.

HSIA deposit (500 USD): Once you have been accepted to the program we ask that you send us your HSIA deposit within a week.

HSIA payment-in-full: Payment-in-full should be sent to us at Humanities Spring by May 15th.

TEACHING INTERNSHIP

HSIA also offers a teaching internship for graduate students and qualified undergraduates. Please include two detailed course proposals with your HSIA application form and a detailed description of all previous teaching experience.
